My elegant Southwest wooden walking sticks and wood canes are made from Arizona Yucca, Sotol, salt cedar, birch, maple, lodge pole pine, and other woods. The Yucca wood and Sotol are very similar and what is said about the Yucca generally applies to the Sotol. The Lodge pole pine walking sticks can be very long and are ideal for those wanting a long walking stick, or those who are involved with medieval reenactments that require a long "staff" type of walking stick. Either can have a woodburning on them of initials, characters, images, etc. Since they are so lightweight, some folks use 2, dual pole, for extra stability and to protect the joints. A very popular Southwest image that is burned on them is the "lucky" legendary Kokopelli Petroglyph. Kokopelli is considered such a lucky image that the local casinos have several Kokopelli figures that gamblers can rub for good luck.
